Rebuilding Homes For The Holidays – Houston Flood Relief
It may feel like Houston is forgotten, but we still have some faithful volunteers heading down to help this winter, with some even coming back for a second time!
We still have several partially or completely gutted homes in the Houston area that we committed to seeing through to the end if volunteers were available to help.
By God’s grace we still have people willing to come help even months after the flood waters resided and the media attention died down. Pray for the laborers coming to serve! So many of them have taken vacation time they could have easily spent relaxing with their families, and instead are committing to days of hard, hot, sweaty rebuild work on the Texas coast.
Their labors are not in vain though! We had a team come this past week from northern Texas and totally transform one family’s home in a matter of days.
This particular home flooded past the ceiling. Everything was gutted down to the studs. Walking through it felt like you were on a construction site for a home just being framed, and not one that had been lived in for many years before!
By the time this team went back to Denton, they had left this family with a fully enclosed interior. Ceilings on, walls in place, ready for finish work and then the final stages to make it habitable again!
We currently do not have any remaining financial needs for the Houston flood rebuilds, but we still DEFINITELY have need for skilled, dedicated, hard working volunteers like the ones that came last week. If you know how to hang drywall and want to sacrifice some vacation time to help flooded families in Texas to share Christ with them while serving in a practical way, let us know!
